About Central University of Finance and Economics
Located in downtown Beijing, the capital of China, and established in 1949, Central University of Finance and Economics （CUFE）, under the leadership of the Ministry of Education, is one of the leading comprehensive universities covering extensive disciplines in law, arts, sciences and engineering, and it is also distinguished in economics and management. It is one of the 100 universities to which the Chinese government has attached top priority for the 21st Century. In 1949, shortly after the founding of the People''''s Republic of China, the first university of finance and economics was created by the China central government. During more than five decades''''development, it has been one of the leaders in business and financial studies. The name of the school when it was first established was the Central Institute of Taxation. It later went through several development stages. In 1996, the Institute was officially renamed the Central University of Finance and Economics in honor of the Ministry of Education.
